Is Green Energy Just a Fancy Trend for GenZ?
Green energy comes from natural sources like the sun, wind, and water. These sources are environmentally friendly. They do not produce the toxic smoke that coal and oil do. The world is shifting to this power for many reasons. It creates millions of new jobs in manufacturing and maintenance. It makes countries more independent. They do not have to rely on expensive foreign fuels. Renewable energy is inexhaustible. It provides a stable energy future for everyone. By 2035, green energy could provide 60% of the world’s total power.
Can Solar Panels Finally Clear Our Hazardous Skies?
Bangladesh generates 98% of its electricity using fossil fuels. This releases harmful gases like CO2, NOx, and SOx. These gases make our air very dirty. In Dhaka, the air is often hazardous or very unhealthy. Old cars and poorly maintained engines cause a lot of this smoke. Shifting to renewable energy is the best solution. Solar and wind power do not emit greenhouse gases. They help protect the environment while meeting rising demand. Green energy can also reach remote rural areas. It will reduce our heavy reliance on scarce and dirty fuels.
Is Our Dirty Air Actually Eating Our GDP?
Poor air quality is a disaster for the economy. Air pollution costs Bangladesh up to $13 billion every year. This is about 4.4% of the country’s entire GDP. When the air is toxic, people get sick. They cannot go to work. This leads to a massive loss in productivity. Families must spend their hard-earned savings on medicine. This money should go to better things like education or food. Healthcare costs alone create a huge financial burden. Clean air is not just about health. It is about keeping the country’s money in its pocket.
Why Keep Paying for Middle East Wars at the Pump?
We rely too much on imported fuel. Tensions in the Middle East make global energy prices spike. Crude oil prices recently jumped by 51%. LNG prices rose by as much as 77%. Bangladesh recently had to buy spot LNG at three times the normal price. This puts massive pressure on our foreign exchange reserves. It drives up inflation for everyone. If we develop 1 gigawatt of solar power, we can save nearly $3 billion in LNG costs over 25 years. Renewable energy is domestic and secure. It shields us from wars and global market shocks.

Top countries are not just using solar panels. They are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize everything. AI can improve project design and real-time operations. This results in lower CO2 emissions and longer asset life. AI helps manage energy storage more smartly. In Brazil, researchers use machine learning to speed up economic growth with renewables. Digital transformation makes the transition to green energy more successful. We must board this “tech train” now. Using AI will make our energy systems more reliable and efficient. It is a huge opportunity for our future.
